In line with our vision of "a world where everyone has a decent place to live"; Flower City Habitat is joining Habitat affiliates from around the world to support the " Habitat Hammers Back" hurricane recovery initiative.

Here are the first three steps we are taking from Rochester to support our not-as-near neighbors and our extended Habitat Family.

Please join us in striving to live our values by doing any of the following steps that you can.
STEP 1: Supply drive for immediate needs in Puerto Rico.

(In partnership with AmeriCorps members across NYS. Led locally by Kim Lewis, our AmeriCorps Family Services Coordinator.)

STEP 2: Fundraising support to rebuild in Texas, Florida, & Puerto Rico.

(In partnership with UR's Simon Business School and Habitat Young Professionals.)

Back in August, we partnered with over 120 Simon MBA students on an amazing volunteer day where we framed the walls for two houses in one day; and ju st a few weeks later, students asked us how they could get involved in the hurricane relief effort.

Together, we have set an initial fundraising goal of $2,000 to support this initiative. Click here to donate or join the campaign.

STEP 3: Long-term "Global Village" volunteer program.

The Global Village program will inform and engage the Rochester community with ways to support and participate in Habitat for Humanity's national and global initiatives. From disaster relief support, to volunteer trips in over 40 countries, we'll connect you to our vision of an entire world where everyone has a decent place to live. Opportunities will include locally-based work and travel.

To get started, we need 5-10 dedicated volunteers to serve on the steering committee. These volunteers must be willing to commit 2-4 hours every month (minimum). If you are interested, reply to this email to reach our volunteer coordinator.
