Rooted in Community is fired up as we build towards this years Summit in Los Angeles, CA. The youth aren't waiting for change, they are uniting us food justice leaders, guardians of the sacred food ways, and generators of community resilience to amplify and organize our power. Please Join us for an incredible experience and step in our movement forward together at the Youth Leadership Summit in
Los Angeles, CA on July 24-28th 2013.
We encourage you to register ASAP and lock in your travel arrangements while they are reasonable. Registering these next 2 weeks allows RIC to secure affordable rates with dorms at the University of Southern California dorms. The campus is beautiful!
RIC reaches out and invites groups throughout the country that cultivate leadership in youth for Food Justice and Sovereignty work to participate.
We are excited to see youth from all over the country cross-training with peer-education workshops and creative tools to amplify youth voice for change.
This year's summit will lift stories that honor the inherent wisdom and creative power of our communities. Youth and mentors will share tools to ensure that our community development efforts create LEADERSHIP and Equity, green jobs and youth social enterprise.
This year look forward to:
- Field trips to Watts, East LA, Boyle Heights, Downtown LA, where you will get to see some historical social movement and sacred sites
- Service projects at community & school gardens
- Youth-led workshops and Movement buidling
- Creative arts and messaging workshops, spoken word activities, dance
- Enjoying great food from community restaurants and prepared by the South-Central LA community.
- Staying in dorms at University of Southern California (USC)
- Growth, inspiration, and fun!!
Youth leaders are strategizing with movement mentors and elders to plan for the Annual Day of Action on July 27th so stay tuned!

Regular Registration: April 8th to June 9th Youth: $200 Adult: $250
Late Registration: June 10th to July 2nd Youth: $225 Adult: $275
We have been informed that any submissions after July 2, 2013 will not be accepted because the university closes room registration.
Rates include a great discount/scholarship for all participants. RIC is committed to making it's gatherings accessible to all! No additional discounts are available. Fees include all housing, food and conference activities. Transportation to and from event is not included.
