A Note From Your Third Grade Teachers
Third Grade Connections
January 26th, 2017
Dear Third  Grade Families,

Wow! What an amazing display of Mother Nature we saw on Monday. The students enjoyed playing in the "snow" during a school day, a rare and fun opportunity.

Speaking of weather, we were disappointed that the field trip to the Bluffs was canceled, but we are working on rescheduling it. Be on the lookout for the new date and thank you for being so flexible.

To carry on Martin Luther King's legacy of kindness, each grade level was asked what part they could play in spreading kindness. The third graders decided to build a Kindness Garden display on the wall outside our classroom. Students began brainstorming ideas and formulating plans this past week. They will continue to develop this project in connection with a service learning project.

Please check below to see what else is happening in third grade.

Sincerely,

Your Third  Grade Team
Kathe Bybee and Jen Guevara
What We Have Been Learning
Ask Your Child About

Talking with your child is the best way to support classroom learning. The following questions can help you get started.

  • What are two ways to show how to subtract these numbers, 2,017 - 1,987?
  • Who are the characters in Sarah, Plain and Tall and what are they like?
  • Why is it important to know how to write a summary?
  • What kinds of frogs live on the coast? What do frogs need in their habitat?
  • How did the children celebrate the rare weather phenomenom shown in this picture?

Homework

  • Thank you for supporting your child with reading daily and signing their planner!

  • It would help improve recall of addition and subtraction facts to practice at home regularly.
