As the weather gets nicer SCI turns up the heat with events! Frostburg State University’s A STAR! in Western Maryland AmeriCorps program will hold the 23rd Annual Book and Resources Giveaway from Saturday, April 14, through Wednesday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at City Place, 14 S. Water St. in Frostburg . For more information click here.

Carter wins design competition

Donovan Carter’s

winning graphic design patch will be out of this world! Last semester, Dr. Jamison Odone’s, FSU associate professor of illustration, advanced illustration classes participated in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program-SSEP Mission Patch Design Competition. The program gave students across Maryland the opportunity to use their skills to create a mission patch that would reflect the identity of Maryland in the context of the SSEP. The SSEP program is a STEM-based program that allows the next generation of engineers and scientist to propose real experiments that fly to the International Space Station (ISS). For Carter’s winning design he decided to research the Maryland flag and the coat of arms in order to incorporate them into his patch. His original design included a microscope, but with the critique from his classmates and professor, he decided to remove it from the design. More>>

Relay for Life!

Friday, April 27 at 3PM

Bobcat Stadium

Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in thousands of communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it's time to take action against cancer. Join The Office of Civic Engagement and Colleges Against Cancer at Relay for Life to bring communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer. Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal. More>
