Announcing the Run Leader for Against the Tide Cape Cod

Kevin Petrovek
How many people can say they've run the Boston Marathon 40 times consecutively? Certainly very few, but Kevin Petrovek, the owner of Hyannis business Hanlon Shoes, can claim that elusive honor with pride. For Petrovek, running is more than a hobby; it's a way of life, and it's a way to bring health and positivity to those around him. That's why Petrovek will be leading the running components of the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's (MBCC) 15th annual Against the Tide swim, kayak, walk, or run fundraising event in Brewster, MA on August 16th to benefit breast cancer prevention.

"It's never too late to become an athlete. It will make your life fuller and be very rewarding to others because they will feel your good vibes," says Kevin. "I am proud to be the run leader for the Against the Tide event, which welcomes individuals from all demographics and all abilities to take part in this inspirational morning event to support breast cancer prevention."

"Kevin is not only a local celebrity, but also a kind and generous man who has supported many community groups throughout the years by sharing his running expertise," says MBCC Executive Director, Cheryl Osimo. "I know that many of our Against the Tide volunteers and participants are looking forward to Kevin leading the 5K and 10K run on August 16th."

Against the Tide consists of a 1-mile swim, 2-mile kayak, 3-mile walk, 5K run, and 10K run. Participants may choose one or more of the activities in any combination. There will also be a "Splash and Dash" Aquathlon option where participants first "splash" in the competitive 1-mile swim and then, "dash" in the competitive 5K or 10K run.
