Greetings in the name of our wonderful Savior. It's hard to believe yesterday was the first Sunday in Lent. Six weeks until Easter.

I started a revival Sunday night in the north Georgia Mountains in Blairsville, Georgia at the First Church of the Nazarene. I look forward to being with these good folks. Their pastor is my good friend Kenny Fuller. I have known Carol and Kenny for a long time. Please be in prayer for real revival through Wednesday.

God bless you.

In Him, Tom

Please make plans to join us in the Family Life Center at 9:30AM or 11AM as one of our International Missionaries, Charlie Chastain, shares how God is working through their ministry and his family in Estonia, Russia. The Chastain's were unable to join us at our Global Impact Celebration but will be in the states for a month on furlough.

A Season of Travels: News from The Chastains in Easter Europe

The kids and I put Miki on a train to Moscow Thursday afternoon, where she'll be leading a prayer retreat for a Russian United Methodist congregation from that region.

Even with the current tensions involving Russia and Ukraine, we felt strongly in our prayers and reflection that it was vital for her to go and serve these brothers and sisters who so desperately want healing and wholeness through a deeper prayer life with our Lord and Savior.

Miki returns to Estonia early next week, and then two days later I depart for three weeks of travel in the US - updating many of you in person about our efforts in Russia and Europe and hopefully bringing in new partners to help us press forward in this necessary work.

I'll admit that I'm nervous these days.  It will be hard to leave my young family for so long. I ask for your prayers for safety, travel mercies, rest and peace for me, Miki and the kids over this next month.

I also ask for your help. If you know of people who may be interested in supporting our work, please let me know and I will work to connect with them during my traveling.

At this moment, it looks like we're about $1,400 short in monthly giving, and I'm praying that I can connect with enough new supporters to help bring us back to a healthy account balance.

Please keep us in your prayers during this time.  I hope to see you during my visit!

Blessings to you and yours, Charlie

Urgent Prayers Needed for Ukraine

Your prayers are needed right now for the country of Ukraine. International Leadership Institute's (ILI) Ukrainian alumni are currently living and serving among tense and uncertain times. From protests to the fast-moving turn of events, ILI has many alumni ministering among the areas where the particular flashpoints have been.

Olya Kornyliuk explains,
"We want this whole situation to bring people to God. Also pray for the safety and unity of all people especially Christians."

Join us in praying for the nation of Ukraine and for God's glory to be revealed during this time of great tension. Thank you in advance for praying.

Two months ago, The Mission Society introduced its president-elect, the Rev. Max Wilkins, who will take the helm in June. Here, President Dick McClain describes the intricate discernment process that led to Max's election. Transitions are important, says President McClain, and you play an important part in this transition. "Never with more urgency than today," he says, does he invite your intercession and partnership on behalf of The Mission Society.

A catalyst for innovative local mission

What does it mean when people say that the mission field is right around us here in the US? What happens when the people we serve look like the people next to us in the grocery store? How can we make mission - serving, discipling, and experiencing Jesus - a part of our regular lives? Full story

Lessons learned in a garbage dump

A story from Nicaragua

It was our last day of clinic at the central dump in Managua. More than 700 people live in this dump and forage among the garbage for scraps of food. They compete with hungry dogs, cattle, and vultures. Fires erupt through natural combustion throughout the dump. The acrid smell of the fires, the sight of the children as well as the elderly rummaging through the garbage alongside the animals...it is a landscape beyond human comprehension. Full story

Radio Ministry and Bibles for South Sudan
In South Sudan, the adult illiteracy rate is very high and radio broadcasts serve as a major means of education and outreach on all subjects. Especially in the villages, families have no means of communication and news other than radio. The church and Ministry of Health are seeing that radio programs are an effective means of outreach. Very few adults in South Sudan own a Bible. Discipleship training, within and outside of the church, would profit from ready access to Bibles in the local language of Bari and English (particularly for the youth).
The money raised by this project will go to support radio programs and purchasing Bibles for churches in South Sudan. Donate now
