On June 18, 1967 - 50 years ago this Sunday - Dan Gurney capped off the most successful month of his career, winning the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps aboard the #36 All American Racers Eagle Weslake V12 just one week after he and AJ Foyt were victorious in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the #1 Ford GT Mk IV.

That year, Michael Turner immortalized the Eagle's Spa victory with the painting featured here. A run of prints was published and the image was included in Turner's annual set of Christmas cards.

In 1989, The Motorsport Collector published a limited edition reprint of 'The Eagle Flies', each signed and numbered by Michael Turner, then individually signed by Dan Gurney himself. The 500 signed prints were thought to be completely sold out but 10 mint condition copies were recently discovered in our files and are being offered now, on the 50th anniversary of Dan's most famous victory, for $175.00 each. Reserve your copy HERE.

June 18 was also good for fellow Californian Phil Hill, who won the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa on that date six years earlier on his way to the 1961 Formula One World Championship.

In the early 90s, we commissioned Graham Turner, the son of Michael, to create 'American Champion' to salute Phil Hill's World Championship and Ferrari's 1-2-3-4 victory at Spa. An edition of 500 prints was published. Each copy signed and numbered by the Artist, then hand signed by America's first World Champion. Available for $195.00. Reserve HERE.

We offer our warm regards to Dan and Evi Gurney along with everyone at AAR on the 50th Anniversary of this historic month.

Enjoy Le Mans this weekend!
