Greetings!

We may be half way through the 2018 race season, but some of our best 5Ks and 10Ks are still to come - including the NEW RaceVermont.com 5K/10K at Basin Harbor on August 18, Shelburne Farms 5K, Muddy's Buddies & more! Read on.
RaceVermont.com 5K/10K at Basin Harbor
August 18, 2018
This course is beautiful! It is gently rolling with very short hills. You’ll start and finish at the Red Mill Restaurant, and you’ll run past the air strip, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, down by the beach and boat slips, around the harbor, through the woods, and past the golf course. The course is partly paved and partly dirt/gravel. Because the scenery is constantly changing the distance of this race will feel shorter than it actually is. Choose from a 5K or 10K. The 10K runners will run the loop twice. Several runners reported personal records on this same course back in June. WALKERS are welcome in the 5K division . One well-behaved, leashed dog per racer is also allowed.

We are incredibly fortunate to host this race at the Basin Harbor Resort and Boat Club – a spectacular seasonal resort on the shores of Lake Champlain. Please thank the Basin Harbor owners and staff if you see them, and of course, be super respectful of this tranquil resort and its guests while visiting.

Register by Sunday, August 5 to receive a free t-shirt with registration.

Charlotte Covered Bridge 5K/10K
& Half Marathon
September 8, 2018
This race is filling up fast, so don't wait too long to register. There is a 500 person limit and it sold out in 2017.

The course for all distances will pass Shelburne Orchards and run along a picturesque dirt/gravel road featuring wonderful views of Vermont countryside. 10K runners will continue and turn around just before entering the Holmes Creek Covered Bridge, whereas our half marathoners will run past Charlotte Beach before entering the covered bridge for the first time. The course continues on quiet, rolling hills before arriving at the turnaround where you will head back the way you came.

This race is a great race for all running abilities because it is a relatively flat course. Just last year we had runners from all over New England, as well as Colorado, Texas, California, Michigan, Minnesota and even Alaska! Finishing at the beach, racers will be awarded a finishers medal and treated to refreshments followed by an awards ceremony and post-race raffle. There is a 3 hour time limit for the Half Marathon. Race walkers are encouraged to participate in our 5K division.
Muddy's Buddies 5K & Pet Adoption Event
September 29, 2018
Join us for this 5K and you may just be going home with a new best friend! This race is a fundraiser for Passion 4 Paws - a local animal rescue. They will be bringing some of their dogs who are looking for forever homes. Already have a canine companion? Feel free to bring him/her along with you to this race - as long as they're friendly and run well on leash. The course is an out-and-back through from/to Shelburne Field House. You'll run out and back along the historic Ti Trail.

Shelburne Farms 5K
October 13, 2018
This has been one of our most popular, scenic races and has sold out for many years. The 5K loop course begins and ends at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn. You'll be running along dirt/gravel roads behind the coach barn and into and around a beautiful pasture and woods before returning to the road. You'll pass meadows, a sugar shack, a brown Swiss cow barn, and beautiful Lake Champlain before making your way past the Inn at Shelburne Farms, the former home of William Seward and Lila Vanderbilt Webb, on your way to the finish line back at the Coach Barn. There is a limit of 175 racers which usually sells out prior to race day .

Fall 5K/10K & Half Marathon
Sponsored by Magic Hat Brewery
November 4, 2018
This tends to be our biggest race with upwards of 600 racers in the past few years.

The 5K and 10K course are out-and-back along the historic Ti Trail (the trail used to move the Ticonderoga from Shelburne Bay to Shelburne Museum) and the Shelburne Bay Path.

Beginning at  Shelburne Field House , the Half Marathon is a loop course. You’ll start out running through one of Shelburne’s most popular neighborhoods before heading into the countryside. After a short jaunt past  Shelburne Farms , you’ll progress north to the Shelburne Shipyard where you’ll turn around and head back home (don’t miss the beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks along the way).  Continue down the Shelburne Bay Path and the historic Ti-Path before returning to Shelburne Field House.

Our half course was recognized in 2014 by Active.com as one of nine of the most  scenic Fall half marathon courses  in New England. Last year we saw racers from 19 states plus Quebec. This race drew racers from as far away as North Dakota, Montana, California and even Alaska!

Jingle Jog 5K
November 24, 2018
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to run in the Jingle Jog 5K! We had a blast with this race last year. The timing couldn’t be more perfect to burn off your Thanksgiving calories and bring holiday cheer to everyone within hearing distance. First 100 registrants will be provided with jingle bells and a Santa hat (a better one this year). You can’t help but get in the holiday spirit by participating in this race.

This is a self-timed race. We’ll provide the big, fancy race clock but results will not be recorded. Let’s just get together for some post holiday fun. Race walkers are welcome to join us.

Everyone whose registration is received by November 11 will receive a FREE race shirt.

Please help spread the word about our races by forwarding this email to your running friends. We look forward to seeing you at a race or races soon!
