Summer's Sunset Concert
Close out the summer at the annual Summer's Sunset Concert. This event will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m at Civic Green Park. The Six Million Dollar Band will headline the evening, performing high energy 80s new wave dance hits.
Three local food trucks will be on site, including Coaches Scoop Ice Cream, El Toro the Tot and Simply Pizza. The food trucks will be ready to serve at 6:00 p.m. and the band will begin playing at 6:30, so arrive early to buy food and find a seat. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, however, no glass is allowed and please leave your four-legged friends at home.

Time capsule
Don't miss the sealing of a time capsule commemorating the35th anniversary of our community - with a plan to open the time capsule at the community's 50th anniversary in 2031. This time capsule will include examples of current technology, news of 2016 along with future predictions. If you would like to submit your predictions for Highlands Ranch in 15 years, please send it to info@highlandsranch.org and it could be included in the time capsule.
DMV office hours changing
Effective Aug. 1, the Highlands Ranch Motor Vehicle Office will be changing hours. Public office hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Alternative location for motor vehicle transactions in northern Douglas County is the Lone Tree office and Castle Rock office, open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

National Night Out
On Aug. 2, Metro District park rangers participated in the National Night Out, hosted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The event is celebrated with neighborhood block parties across America on the first Tuesday in August to promote police-community partnerships. These block parties give people a chance to meet their neighbors, local law enforcement and emergency service providers.
Volunteer Connect

With some schools starting Monday, it's time to start planning how students are going to log their volunteer hours. Volunteer Connect is a community resource provided by the Partnership of Douglas County Governments. This site helps individuals in the community who are looking for ways to volunteer with local organizations.
