2014 Annual Conference Banner

We're preparing to set sail! The 6th Annual QM Conference on Quality Assurance in Online Learning is September 29 - October 1 at the Renaissance Harborplace in Baltimore, Maryland. When you're registering for the Conference, take advantage of an opportunity to choose one or more of the four pre-conference workshops we're highlighting. They take place Monday, September 29 and include:

Designing Your Blended Course

The Designing Your Blended Course workshop, facilitated by Mary Beth Graham of Mount Saint Mary University, explores the QM Rubric's eight General Standards and provides a framework to build a blended course. While we recognize each institution will define "blended" in its own way, this framework will work with any combination of face-to-face and online elements. Participants use the Rubric to review key blended elements and build a course development plan. Workshop participants should be ready to work on an existing course throughout the session.

Quality Matters for Administrators

The Quality Matters for Administrators workshop, facilitated by Deb Adair (left) and Brenda Boyd of QM, is designed to acquaint higher education administrators with QM's underlying principles; the critical materials, processes and administrative elements of the QM online course quality assurance program; and the opportunities and challenges of institutional implementation. It's intended to be a practical workshop, stressing the steps administrators might take to successfully develop an implementation strategy.

K-12 Applying the Quality Matters Rubric

The K-12 Applying the Quality Matters Rubric workshop, facilitated by Christine Voelker of QM, is QM's flagship course on the K-12 Secondary Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses. It is intended for a broad audience, including, but not limited to: teachers, instructional designers, administrators and adjunct instructors of dual enrollment courses who wish to understand more about the QM process. Participants are introduced to the Rubric, its application to a teacher-created online course, and writing helpful recommendations for continuous course improvement. This workshop is appropriate for teachers, instructional designers, administrators and regulators who wish to understand more about research-supported best practices and quality course design.

Improving Your Online Course

The Improving Your Online Course workshop, facilitated by Cecelia Green of QM, explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the Rubric to review their online courses and develop a course improvement plan. The content is based on the QM Rubric's eight General Standards. Participants will use an existing online course during the workshop.

Join your shipmates at one of these pre-conference workshops on Monday, September 29. We'll see you in port!
