I am super excited that I was able to spend a good portion of my day watching our students participate in Special Olympics Track and Field. They work so incredibly hard and support each other in a manner that is inspiring. Great job to our EMS Athletes!
STAAR testing is upon us. Please do not make appointments or plan to be off campus if you are taking the upcoming STAAR tests. 8th graders will take the Math STAAR on April 10th and the Reading STAAR on April 11th. 7th grade students will be taking the Writing STAAR on April 10th as well.

Home Access Center or HAC is now available on your mobile device using the eSchoolPLUS Family app. McKinney ISD parents and students can use the app to view attendance, classwork, class and activity calendar events, student grade information, and alerts and notifications.
After you download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, simply choose your school district name and state and log in with the student's Home Access Center credentials.

Boxtops; Win Movie Passes!
We just awarded two Cinemark movie passes and have more to give away for submitting the most Box Tops! The student who turns in the most Box Tops by April 20 will win two Cinemark movie passes! Just place your Box Tops in a baggie (please check those expiration dates!), put your student's name and grade on the outside, and drop them off in the box in the school office. 6th grade students need to turn in proof of immunization requirements BEFORE June 1st to get their schedule and attend 7th grade next fall. Texas State Law requires that 7th grade students for the 2018-2019 school year show proof of the following immunizations:
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) within the past 5 years
Meningococcal vaccine (one dose)
(On top of the immunizations that were required for elementary)
Your child may have already had these immunizations. Please provide the school nurse with a current list of your student's immunizations

Shot Van is available on May 18th from 5-7 pm at Lawson Early Childhood Center
Please make sure that your student receives any needed immunizations before the end of this school year.
It is necessary for your child to be in compliance before they can attend 7
th
grade.

Attention parents of Elementary and Middle School Students . . . McKinney's Project Graduation is back . . .and we need YOU ! ! !
Why are we asking for your help when you don't have high school students? Because in 2017 Project Graduation didn't take place due to a lack of community support. And we want to make sure that never happens again! We need to keep Project Graduation going strong so it's there when your students are seniors. Why? Because Project Graduation keeps graduating seniors (and the community) safe by providing a lock-in style event with fun activities, entertainment, food and prizes (including a FREE CAR!). It is supported and run ENTIRELY by volunteers, parent groups, booster clubs, and local businesses.
You have the potential to save lives - please consider supporting this worthwhile event. What can you do to help? It's simple...we need sponsors, prize donations and volunteers.

Second Language Learners can now attend tutoring on Monday's after school in Mr. Perez' room -E116.
After school tutoring will begin Monday October 16 from 3:50- 4:50 after school. A late bus will be provided, and will drop students at their zoned elementary school or outlying area.
More information will be sent home to parents about this opportunity.

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers who make it possible for us to make our school the very best it can be! Please remember that if you are a returning volunteer, or maybe a first time MISD volunteer, that you must go online to fill out a Volunteer Application and be approved before you can serve in any capacity where you will have contact with students. Sometimes this takes a couple of weeks, so please do it as soon as possible! We need you!!!

Please enter the building through the back doors that lead into the fine arts hall. Doors will be locked after 8:10.

Dear Parents,
Although some of he following information is not new, we would like to remind you of a few policies we have in place here at Evans Middle School. We can't thank you enough for your cooperation!
*For the safety and security of all MISD students and staff, everyone is required to show government issued ID (driver's license, identification card, passport etc.) upon entering the campus or accessing student information.
*In the event your student forgets an item at home, you are welcome to leave it on the cabinet in the front office. Please make sure it is clearly and visibly marked with your student's name. We cannot be responsible for anything left on the cabinet and all food items will be thrown out at 3:45pm. In an effort to keep our classrooms as free from disruption as possible, we will not make phone calls or deliveries to students for items left for pick up.
*We are happy to have your student come to the front office to be checked out once you are in the building, but we do not call students in advance. This will keep our students in the classroom as much as possible. If your student is in a fine arts class, lunch or a PE/Athletics class, please allow for additional time when picking them up. Please be sure that the person picking up your student is on your contact list. We will need to see your driver's license every time you enter campus. Thank you in advance for your help with this.
*We will not be able to call a classroom for dismissal after 3:15pm in order to minimize disruption at the end of the school day. If you must pick your student up at the end of the day, please arrive in plenty of time to meet this deadline. We appreciate your understanding.
*While you are welcome to bring lunch up to school for your child, bringing food to anyone other than your student is prohibited. This is a federally mandated directive.

| LOVE & LOGIC PARENT CLASSES |
McKinney ISD is offering Love and Logic classes at no cost to MISD parents. Registration is required. Love and Logic parenting classes are for parents wanting have loving relationships with their children by setting limits, avoiding power struggles and guiding their children to become problem solvers. The curriculum supports families with children from birth through the teen years.
Class sessions include three fall sessions and three spring sessions. Each session meets on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. for four consecutive weeks.
