7 hoverboard models r ecalled
On November 14th, the CPSC announced the recalls of 7 models of hoverboards/self-balancing scooters due to fire and explosion hazards. This latest announcement comes after many previous recalls and reports of hoverboards overheating, including one incident that led to a fatal house fire in March 2017. Only purchase hoverboards that carry the  UL 2272 standard mark , which have been tested to prevent overheating and fire risks.

Holiday safety tips
The holiday season is an exciting time for people of all ages. We want all families to have the information they need to stay safe during this busy season. If you have travel plans this month, double check that your car seats or booster seats are age-appropriate and follow all safe sleep guidelines even when away from home. Also beware the choking and ingestion hazards associated with some toys, such as high-powered magnets.

KID's international advocacy
KID staff had a busy month in November, traveling both locally and internationally to connect with our partners on product safety issues. First, KID's ED, Nancy Cowles, traveled to Paris to present on recall effectiveness. Then, Nancy joined others in the product safety community at the annual  ICPHSO International Symposium , this year in Tokyo, Japan. Meanwhile, KID's Program Director, Carson Gaffney, attended the annual Midwest Injury Prevention Alliance Summit in Minneapolis, MN.
