750 sq. ft Revamp

After 30 years in her 750 sq ft. condo, it was time for an overhaul. Everything was outdated or just plain falling apart. DONATE, ELIMATE or KEEP were the names of the piles created after going through decades of collecting. The condo is now empty and the construction has started!

A full gut renovation includes a brand new galley kitchen, bathroom, windows, removal of stucco ceilings and new drywall. Opening up of crumbling walls made us aware of dangerous electrical wiring that needed to be replaced too!

The entire apartment will receive beautiful NEW furniture, a big change from the BEFORE pics seen below! An electric fireplace will warm up the entire space in the Winter for TV viewing. A proper consolidated desk area will function perfectly, yet remain out of the way.

The question will be whether the client will stay in her newly renovated home or put on the market to move to a larger space!

Home Accents Today Editors Breakfast

Retailers and interior designers talked everything from furniture's fashion week to the changing retail landscape during Home Accents Today's semiannual High Point Buyers Breakfast, held at the String & Splinter. The High Point Market Authority sponsored the event. Denise Wenacur/DW Design & Decor was glad to be a part of this lively discussion...
Artful Expression

The color palettes seen at the Spring High Point Furniture & Accessory Market were playful and filled with energy!  There was a cultural root to the fabric patterns without noting its specific geographic origin, reflected in the Greenhouse Fabrics May 2017  fabric introductions. The one recurring theme that I observed is that our home is our gallery...
Visiting the OCULUS

Light floods through the eye-catching transportation hub in lower Manhattan on a beautiful summer day. The PATH (Port-Authority Trans Hudson) train station, adjacent to the World Trade Center, was destroyed during the 9/11 attacks. In March of 2016 the doors of the  Oculus  were opened to the public. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava used 11,500 tons of structural steel to create a building that resembles a dove taking flight...
Kips Bay Showhouse

I was thrilled to meet Nashville-based designer, Jonathan Savage from  SAVAGE Interior Design  during my visit. He was responsible for designing the grand staircase in this year's  Kips Bay Decorator Show House . Jonathan dressed the walls in a custom plaster-on-canvas wall covering made by  MJ Ateliers  in Los Angeles. The Southern-style chinoiserie wallpaper affixed with hand-sculpted plaster motifs created an inviting yet sophisticated space...
DW Named BUSINESS OF THE WEEK
in the Examiner

"When I had built my house many years ago, I loved the whole building process," said Wenacur, who has a degree in Fine Arts. "I then went back to school for Interior Design to help people achieve the same positive experience that I had in building their DREAM HOME and making their environment a reflection of who they are."
