Dear Panther Parents,
Our hearts and thoughts go out to our McKinney North High School students, staff, and parents. When tragedy strikes, there is comfort knowing that our district and community responds and supports one another. Student safety is always a priority, and we will continue to do whatever it takes to accomplish just that. Thank you, MISD, for being prepared and responding quickly and appropriately today.
8th grade celebration is upon us. June 5th is the day we are heading to PSA. Information has been provided to students. We look forward to having an amazing day!!
Last day of school is next Thursday. Please encourage your student to begin bringing home items that might be in lockers (general and athletic). We will have a locker clean-out day on Wednesday.
Happy Friday (that's the last time I get to say that this year!),

Yearbooks were passed out on Thursday. We are down to 20 extra books to sell. If your student did not get a yearbook and would still like one, send $45 cash or check made out to Evans Middle School. Progress Report & Report Card Dates
*Progress Reports and Report Cards can be viewed and printed from the

June 7th End of Quarter 4; Grades Due
June 14th Final Report Card viewable on HAC
As we approach the end of the school year it is important that we have up-to-date information for every student. Please look at the following items and make sure that you are prepared for next year!
EMAIL ADDRESS - Does the school have your email address so that you receive important reminders and know when to complete the online registration update this summer?
HOME ACCESS CENTER (HAC) - Do you know your HAC login and password? It is important that you know this so that you can check your child's progress and see their report card. If you need this information, please contact an AP secretary or the registrar.
MOVING FROM MCKINNEY? -If your child will be moving to a school other than an MISD school, please contact Lynne Wells, firstname.lastname@example.org, prior to the end of the year so that we can give you the withdrawal papers you will need to enroll at the new school.
| IS YOUR STUDENT GOING TO GET A LEARN'S PERMIT TO DRIVE THIS SUMMER?
We know that the thought of your student getting a learner's permit is probably scary, but they will need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) when they apply at the Texas Department of Public Safety. If your child turns 15 over the summer and will be applying for a learner's permit, please make sure to request a VOE from the registrar before the last day of school. VOE's are NOT required to enroll in driver's education programs, they are only needed when you actually apply for the permit. Please contact Lynne Wells, email@example.com
, to obtain a VOE.
Attention 8th Grade Panther Parents:
Believe it or not, we're coming to the end of this school year, and it's time to celebrate our 8th graders. The PTO has put together a special day for them at PSA, and we need lots of parent help to make this happen. Please click HERE to sign up for one or more 90-minute shifts. There is lots to choose from ... from the graffiti wall to the hamster ball ... there's something for everyone. Sign up today!
Thank you to all the parents who signed up to help staff the IMPACT celebration on May 25th! The kids had a great time, in spite of the crazy spring storm and having to move the fun indoors. We couldn't have done it without you!
TWO PTO BOARD POSITIONS STILL OPEN
Panther parents, we are looking for a few more wonderful people who are interested in making a difference in the lives of our Evans educators and our students. We have the following positions open on the PTO Board:
Concessions (2 co-chairs) ... our PTO makes thousands of dollars by shopping for and staffing the concession stand at home football games. It's a limited time position since it ends when the last Evans football game is played. If we don't fill these positions, we will lose out on thousands of dollars of income for the PTO AND we will not be able to serve our students and families concessions while they watch games.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP if you'd be interested in helping. We need you, and it's so rewarding to be such a big part of our school.
Goodbye Until Next Year!
Your PTO wishes you a safe and happy summer, enjoying quality time with your families and friends. We'll see you next year
Keep sending in those Box Tops!
The PTO turns them into cash for our school. Just place your Box Tops in a baggie (please check those expiration dates!), put your student's name and grade on the outside, and drop them off in the box in the school office.
Your membership provides valuable funds to our school as well as giving you a vote in PTO events and programs.
*Awarded $6000 in teacher grants
*Sponsored the IMPACT carnival, Pay it Forward Fun Run and 8th Grade Celebration
*Funded two scholarships to graduating Evans' seniors
*Presented multiple parent enrichment workshops
*Helped to support academic programs like the spelling bee, UIL and AVID
*Hosted teacher appreciation events throughout the year
Most importantly, our PTO fosters a sense of school community while supporting students. We play a crucial role in helping to create an environment that is nurturing, educational, and exciting for all of our Panthers.
Please consider joining the PTO! You can

|IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION
Although some of he following information is not new, we would like to remind you of a few policies we have in place here at Evans Middle School. We can't thank you enough for your cooperation!
*For the safety and security of all MISD students and staff, everyone is required to show government issued ID (driver's license, identification card, passport etc.) upon entering the campus or accessing student information.
*In the event your student forgets an item at home, you are welcome to leave it on the cabinet in the front office. Please make sure it is clearly and visibly marked with your student's name. We cannot be responsible for anything left on the cabinet and all food items will be thrown out at 3:45pm. In an effort to keep our classrooms as free from disruption as possible, we will not make phone calls or deliveries to students for items left for pick up.
*We are happy to have your student come to the front office to be checked out once you are in the building, but we do not call students in advance. This will keep our students in the classroom as much as possible. If your student is in a fine arts class, lunch or a PE/Athletics class, please allow for additional time when picking them up. Please be sure that the person picking up your student is on your contact list. We will need to see your driver's license every time you enter campus. Thank you in advance for your help with this.
*We will not be able to call a classroom for dismissal after 3:15pm in order to minimize disruption at the end of the school day. If you must pick your student up at the end of the day, please arrive in plenty of time to meet this deadline. We appreciate your understanding.
*While you are welcome to bring lunch up to school for your child, bringing food to anyone other than your student is prohibited. This is a federally mandated directive.
