8th Ward Streets and Sanitation Garbage Pick Up Change
|
As of last week, the 8th Ward Garbage pick up map has changed. We will now have garbage pick up on four of the five days of the week, in various areas of the ward. After multiple calls and email from residents, it has come to my attention that the previous email was difficult to access. Below I have attached the map which should make it easier for you to access. If you continue to have issues please contact my office.

On Saturday, April 22nd, you and your neighbors can make an immediate difference in your community by volunteering for Chicago’s citywide Clean & Green Day of Service. Clean & Green is a great opportunity for residents, school groups and community organization to team up and beautify area in their neighborhood. The City will provide the brooms, rakes, shovels and bags needed for clean-up projects. Deadline for registration is Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

TechGYRLS is a youth empowerment program designed to raise girls’ interest and confidence in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). The TechGYRLS program will help young girls ages 9-14 develop the usage of technological tools, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in any profession they pursue

Growing Home Information Sessions
|
Growing Home is hosting information sessions for our 14-week, paid, on-the-job training program, starting on April 3, 2017.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Currently unemployed
- Able to read, write and do math at a 6th grade level
- Chicago resident
Growing Home hires individuals to work as Production Assistants on our urban farm and participate in our job-readiness program. Growing Home considers applications for individuals who meet all of the above qualifications as well as those who may have been previously incarcerated, have misdemeanor or felony convictions and those who are currently on parole or probation.
