Frostburg State University’s Student and Community Involvement (SCI) welcomes seven new
professional staff
members this semester.
Marcus Freeman

Megan Dignan
are current graduate students.

are FSU alum and

is a new member of the FSU family. Each of the newly hired staff members holds a unique position and contributes to the success of SCI.

Under Armour Creative Director
Shawn King hopes to motivate student organizations
Student organization presidents and representatives invited
LEAD
, a student organization who works to inspire leadership among Frostburg State students has invited Shawn King, Director of Design - Campus Planning and Development at Under Armour to present on September 23 from 12-5 PM in the Lane University Center Atkinson Room. Student organization presidents and an additional representative are invited to attend this workshop where King hopes to motivate students to collaborate to achieve success. King holds a B.S. in Environmental Design from Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
A Linkedin colleague, Carol Copeland said this about King,
“Shawn is an incredible design talent that has the keen ability to inspire and motivate others. He has a way of creating a collaborative work environment that results in the development of unique solutions to challenging problems that always exceed client’s expectations. His leadership, strong creative vision and concise presenting skills make him an invaluable leader and mentor. It's is always a joy to work with him.”
Two additional speakers, Eric Day, a high school football and lacrosse coach will speak about how to critique events in order to improve event quality. Closing speaker, James Kirk, President of Frostburg State University Student Government Association, will gather ideas from the floor about solutions to common campus organization issues and help find conscensus.
Micah Hunter-Goskie, President of LEAD says,
“The goal of the forum is to encourage organizations to collaborate with one another, not only to have better and broader ideas, but to have better attendance at events. The end goal is to find a common problem of organizations and brainstorm solutions to benefit all.”
The forum is limited student organization presidents and one representative and has a cap of 80 students. RSVPs will be honored on a first come, first serve basis.

Explore SOAR
Student organization leaders wanted
The Office of Student Activities and Greek Life will facilitate training sessions for student organization leaders, which will occur throughout the semester. The Student Organization & Advising Resources (SOAR) agenda includes information regarding the following topics: policies and procedures, marketing techniques, event planning skills, leadership development, and the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations of campus.
Expectations
Student Organization officers and recommended student leaders will be enrolled into the SOAR to success series curriculum throughout the Spring Semester. It is recommended that students that are enrolled into the curriculum be able to attend all workshops and complete all requirements.
