Greetings!

I would like to take a moment to thank the many members who attended last Thursday evening’s Membership Dinner Meeting held at the Holiday Inn. A very special thank you to those members who participated in the program, sharing their stories and thoughts on the benefits of membership in the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association (RRHBA), Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV), and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The program was very meaningful to me; as I was reminded why our 3-in-1 membership is valued by so many. It was great to have Morgan Giovannucci, NAHB Regional Field Representative for Region A, speak to the membership regarding the many benefits offered to members by NAHB. She is a great resource for our RRHBA staff and membership.

I would like to say thank you to those I have gotten to know through their participation on various RRHBA committees. Over the past month I have met a wide variety of builder and associate member professionals who do a great job representing our industry in Southwest Virginia. I have participated in energetic and exciting discussions with members of the Associate Advisory Council and the Professional Enrichment Committee about exciting upcoming events that benefit our members and give credibility to our great Association. I have been a part of a Roanoke Valley Home Builders Corporation Board meeting, an Executive Committee meeting of our Board of Directors, as well as part of our April Board of Directors meeting. I am very excited about the member attendance at these recent meetings and the level of energy and interest in increasing the level of engagement with current members. RRHBA adds value to our communities in many ways and sharing our story with potential members from the many professions which make up our industry make us stronger.
I would challenge each member who I have spent time with to give thought to the value of their RRHBA membership. Share your story with those who could benefit from membership and bring additional strength and talent to RRHBA. To those in attendance last night, engage with a potential member, help us reach our goal of 25 new members during our Membership Drive in May. After the program last night you should have the tools you need to be an effective recruiter. Remember, in addition to the prizes outlined last night for new member recruitment, I am planning a cook-out at the office for new members and their SPIKE (sponsor). I would love to cook for at least 50 people; the more the merrier.
For those of you I have not had the good fortune to meet, call me or stop by the RRHBA office. I would love to get to know you and learn about your business. The RRHBA staff is here for you. Tell us how we can help you. Let us tell you about the many opportunities to match your interests and skills with other members who enjoy participation on a wide variety of committees. From Governmental Affairs to the Bowling Bash; from Marketing and Technology to Spring Home Show, we have an opportunity for every member. We have membership packets at the office available for pick up or we can send via email, just in time for the May Membership Drive.
My challenge for you today: make your membership count. Take the time, get engaged, participate, and enjoy the fellowship of other great people who also have a vested interest in the home building industry. Let’s serve, support and represent the building industry together. Thank you for your support.
