Do you know what season it is?

Over Labor Day, we heard a car advertisement touting it's 'official' end of summer sale. Not sure where they got the 'official' word, since there are technically a few more weeks of summer left. But truly, fall will be upon us soon, and we will soon feel it in the weather. The days are already getting shorter...

Perhaps we are in the best of both worlds? At Nan's we LOVE summer and fall, especially from a culinary view. Heirloom tomatoes AND pumpkins? Margaritas AND hot cocoa? Summer flowers AND the colors of fall..?

This newsletter offers the best of both seasons. We are not ready to give up summer barbeques, so we have new sauces you will want year-round.

And autumn?  Our show list reflects the fall - fog and olives, pomegranates and pumpkins, mandarins and more - each have their own festival coming soon.  Before you know it, the gift giving season will be here, so we have a warehouse sale that will prepare you.

These stories and more are featured in this edition, a nice timely transition from summer to fall. Enjoy!

Two Tasty New
~HEALTHY~
Grilling Sauces!  What?

If there are food categories neglected at being healthful and gluten-free, grilling sauces have to be near the top.  It has been almost two years and we are proud of our role in bringing great healthy gluten-free pasta to the market.  We decided we were ready for a new challenge.

Have you ever seen the words 'Gluten-Free' on a barbeque sauce jar?  There are some, but not many.  You may not know it, but there are trace wheat products in many foods, and soy in many sauces. Soy and wheat are processed in the same plant in many cases, so 'gluten-free' status is not permissible.

But once you find a gluten-free grilling sauce, is it healthy?  A good trend in the food we consume is the replacement of 'high fructose corn syrup' (the sweetener in many foods) with real sugar. HFCS's are one of the most processed foods ever, and can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and more. Yes, cane sugar is more expensive, but it is natural and better for you.

We take pride in these words on the front label of each jar:

All Natural

Vegan

Gluten-Free

No High Fructose Corn Syrup

Important words, but even more important?  We think they taste amazing. Here are our two new flavors, with our tasting notes:

Original Marinade & Grill Sauce - For the traditionalist this is our classic offering: a clean, fresh tomato-based grilling sauce. Smooth, tangy and sweet with just a hint of smoke and light on the spiciness.

Caribbean Rum Marinade & Grill Sauce - The subtle aroma of rum instantly whisks you away to the islands, and the taste on the tongue adds rich sweet/sour tropical flavors along with a lingering, pleasant but not overpowering spiciness.

You will find our new sauces on our website for $11.00 each, and look for them at select shows.

Oh!  By The Way!

In case you missed our Facebook post a short time back, we have a new member to our blended olive oil family!   Brand new is our Spicy Tomato Dipping Oil!  Here are our tasting notes:

Spicy Tomato Dipping Oil - The ingredient list can't get any more straightforward or tasty: sun dried tomatoes, basil, shallots, garlic, some sea salt and spice infused in California extra virgin olive oil.  This is a multifaceted condiment with rich bold flavors we think you will use over and over in your kitchen.

Just like our other olive oils, this is available in our tall 12.7 ounce bottle (pictured) and short 6.0 ounce bottle
