ow can I list the ways our fathers never let us down?
Some took the training wheels off our bikes and gave us that first big push into the future.
Some came to every school play, helped with math homework and the SATs.
Some taught us to drive, and supported us with earnest advice on each adolescent crisis.
Some comforted us through disappointment.
Some were silent--but always there in the background, ready to offer a hug.
Probably all of them taught us about respect and honesty and candor.
So, my thanks go to you, Dad--
For the way you kept my hand folded into yours.
For being the kind of father I will always remember.
For the bounty of your love.
