A Christmas Message from Bishop Allende

Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;
righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
[Psalm 85:10]

Monument of Atonement -- Berlin, Germany

The images in this psalm verse speak of the hope of all humankind.

Then…Jesus comes.

In the midst of the wars, the conflicts, the poverty, the violence, the disasters and desperation, this little baby comes to comfort the cries of God’s people, to deliver us from our distress, to ease our fears, to calm our confusion, to restore order to the chaos caused by our neglect in the care of God’s creation; to forgive us of our faithlessness.

Emmanuel, God with us, born of a virgin in a humble manger, comes to bring peace to a world that longs for love, yearns for faithfulness, hungers for righteousness and thirsts for peace.

This Christmas, may God’s peace be ever present in you and fill you with all faithfulness, that you may be a reflection of God’s righteousness and bear witness to the light of God’s love.
