Please join us on this day at Masjid Omar as we would like to welcome you and your families to Al-Furqan Weekend School. You're more than welcome to contribute by bringing drinks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other items.
Al Furqan Weekend School at Masjid Omar Ibn El-Khattab - Now in Session
Location: 580 Riverview Drive, Columbus.
School Timings: Saturdays, 10:30am to 1:30pm
Ages: from 5 to 15
Subjects taught: Quran, Arabic and Islamic studies

Fees per month:
$ 30 for 1 Child
$ 55 for 2 Children
$ 75 for 3 Children
$ 90 for 4 Children

Part Time Job Opportunity at Al-Furqan Weekend School 

Al-Furqan weekend school at Masjid Omar is looking for male or female teacher  (male is preferred because he will be teaching boys between the age of 9 to 15) . The candidate should have solid experience in teaching, a good grasp of Arabic language, Quran, and Islamic studies. He or she must be fluent in English and able to explain everything in English to the students. Hours of work are on Saturdays from 10:15AM to 1:30PM. Pay is $15 per hour.

Muslim Day at the Capital - CAIR
"Join CAIR-Ohio for the 1st annual Muslim Day at the Capitol. Participants will receive training, support, and education for a full day of civic engagement and meet with their representatives to discuss issues affecting Ohio’s Muslim community. Tickets are $15/person and include a boxed lunch and materials. Deadline to Register is September 28th, 2017."

A sisters’ group at Masjid Omar Ibn El-Khattab with the aim of providing a safe, fun, social, and beneficial space for Muslim Women in the Columbus Community.
Qur'an Halaqa
Sundays after Fajr with Br. Mohammad Toukhy. It is a halaqa with a focus on proper Qur’an recitation through mastering Tajweed rules.

Aishah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: " One who is skilled in the Qur'an is associated with the noble, upright recording angels, and he who falters when he recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult for him will have a double reward."

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۖ فَعَسَىٰ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ

About Us

Masjid Omar is the one of the oldest mosques in Columbus, Ohio. It was established in 1984, but the idea of its origin started in 1979 when nine students gathered and agreed on praying in an apartment at 705 at Harley Drive.
