This marks the sixth Thanksgiving I've spent here at the Honolulu City Council and I've been spending a lot of time lately thinking about my time here.  I remember the first day I was inaugurated into office, and the excitement that I felt to be able to continue serving a community and its residents whom I care so deeply for.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season, let us pause and reflect on the many blessings we enjoy everyday.  Some moments I hold dear to my heart include; the smiling keiki I encounter every day who share with me their hopes and dreams; the kupuna I run into during my morning walks, who remind me to slow down, enjoy a cup of coffee, and enjoy life; and the hardworking families whom I have had heartfelt conversations with, in my office, and out in the community.  Your determination to transform the future of Hawaiʻi' is inspiring.

Today, I am writing to simply say thank you.   Mahalo to each and everyone of you for teaching me more about life every day.  I am continually blown away by the love and compassion that flows out of our residents and it is my honor to serve the community.  I can only hope that I can inspire you the way you all have inspired me.

From my 'ohana to yours, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
