A Great Start!

Wow! What a great start to our campaign!

Last fall, when I made the decision to begin exploring a run for State Representative in District 28, I was optimistic but never imagined the tremendous response we have received. It is truly inspiring and I cannot thank all of you enough for your support, your generosity, and your encouragement throughout the process.

The momentum began right away, when I received enthusiastic support and encouragement during the period in which I was exploring a run. It continued through the winter and early spring, particularly as I began walking door-to-door in early April. Nearly every door was positive, many committing to take yard signs in June.

The message I received was clear - the people of south Leawood and Overland Park want new leadership who will rise above the rhetoric and get the job done.

Making It Official

With this strong Kansas wind at my back, I made it official on April 16th, when I formally filed my candidacy at the Johnson County Election Office.

I take this responsibility seriously, and I look forward to continuing conversations with the people of District 28 this summer!

Notes from the Trail

Some friends have asked me what it's like to go door to door, asking people for their vote.

The truth is - I love it!

From conversations about the importance of a child-focused approach to education to ensuring Kansas remains a great place to do business and raise a family, the people of District 28 are interested in my campaign and asking fantastic questions.

A consistent theme in each neighborhood is that people want authenticity, transparency, and a focus on getting the job done.

They don't want their schools to become political footballs - they want our school funding situation solved for the long term , and they want the focus to be on kids.

They don't want their taxes always going up - they want government limited and they want it to work,

They don't want politicians hiding their agenda - they want authentic leaders who will stand up on principle and represent us well.

Of course, it's early. Those who want to keep the status quo are already raising a ruckus and claiming things about me that just aren't true. That's okay, I know that's part of their game. It does not deter me - in fact, it motivates me to keep pressing forward.

To cross the finish line on Primary Election Day on Tuesday, August 7th, I need your help. I am out walking nearly every day, and I need navigators (drivers!) as well as co-walkers! If you can help, simply reply to this e-mail and my team will get you signed up. Also, I would be honored to place a yard sign in your yard later this summer. Just respond "Yes" to this email, and include your street address. You will be joining many others in our community who have already said yes!

Most of all, remember to vote in the Republican Primary on Tuesday, August 7th!

Together, we'll get there - this I know. To those who have helped so far, thank you! To all of you who have offered encouragement and assistance, I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
