Success Banner

The Long Beach CITD's recent trade mission to COSMOPROF Worldwide Bologna proved a tremendous success; the 11 exhibiting companies met with more than 100 distributors and increased their sales as an aggregate to more than $1 million, only one month after the show.

Thanks to CA STEP, our host Long Beach City College, and the CITD trade mission, many participating companies made their first export transaction with confidence or are exporting to more than one country. For some of the seasoned exporters, opportunities doubled and as a whole, the participants agreed this trade show to Cosmoprof was, "by far the best show in terms of sales [they] ever attended." Participants not only increased their sales, but each participant received free consulting services, market research, European Union regulatory education, and a full marketing campaign inclusive of pavilion and booth design, media coverage, PR, and social media for the show.

California STEP
The 2011 California State Trade and Export Promotion (California STEP) project leverages a network of state, federal, private and non-profit trade promotion organizations to facilitate export promotion, activities, serving targeted industries, to drive exports for small businesses. In 2010 the Small Business Jobs Act authorized the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to create  STEP.  Incidentally, the California STEP Network was awarded a large portion of the grant, managed by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Centers for International Trade Development (CITD).

STEP Goals:
  1. Increase the value of exports for small businesses.
  2. Increase the number of small businesses in California exporting.

"By far, one of the most successful business to business shows. Surprising was the broad global representation, literally a Who's Who of distributors stopping by to make introductions."
