A Message Worth Sharing!
Chom was an interesting man. An immigrant from Cambodia; a donut maker by trade; enthusiastic and engaging; a simple man whose conversation warmed me. The occasion: just another flight to a ministry destination.
As we sat in the DFW airport awaiting our flight to Orange County, he was busy peppering me with questions about our city; he was considering a move to Dallas. Though I prefer to work when sitting in an airport, I couldn't break away from the conversation. I was transfixed by his transparency, humility and humanity.
I focused hard, trying to translate his broken English, but also felt an ease in communication as he swept me into his world, speaking easily of his love of family and appreciation of America.
Finally, I had to ask the obvious. "Chom, tell me about your faith. I assume are you a Buddhist. Are you?" Of course he was. Then I asked, "Tell me what you think of Christianity. I am a Christian. What do you think about Jesus?"
And he told me. He was a fan. He respected all great teachers and religious figures. "Indeed," I thought, "I expected that answer." I asked if I could tell him why I thought Jesus was particularly special, unique. He said he would love to hear it.
It is always gratifying to me not only to share the gospel but to hear it. It re-ignites my confidence. Think of it the way the apostle Paul writes of it: "Christ Jesus...the gospel of God...His Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh (a historical, living human with verifiable genealogy and pedigree) who was declared with power to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead (a clear attestation of his divinity, power and perfection)! Romans 1:1-4
That day in the airport I had the privilege of sharing my joy, God's truth, with Chom. I told him enthusiastically that in Christ we have a person who showed us God's perfect way. In Christ we have a redeemer who gave his life for us. In Christ we have a miraculous event, the resurrection, which is inimitable, and proves both our forgiveness before God and His ability to take us into eternity with Him.
In Christ, we have a God who seeks us, who desires a personal relationship with us, One who exceeds all other religious teachers and personalities by far. We have a God who gives us a verified hope for love, life and peace - like no other
religious leader!
Chom was hooked. "I never knew that," he said, thoughtfully.
It was time to board so I offered him a gospel tract I carry with me at all times. He immediately took it and told me he would sit down with his son (his business partner) and they would read it together that night. I shook his hand, boarded the plane and prayed that God would consummate the exchange of faith that day with Chom and his son.
I am so thankful to be a Christian, so excited about the truth of our faith, the intimacy of my Lord. Lately I have been praying with new intensity that God would "bump" me into people with whom I could share my faith. And why - if our faith is so cool, so right, so exclusive, so true - wouldn't I want everyone to share that blessing with me?
Paul says it best when he testifies, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed - a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: 'The righteous will live by faith.'" Romans 1:16-17
Man, I am excited to be a Christian AND to share my faith!

So far 2011 has started with great success. We are very thankful for all the Lord has done so far and we are hopeful for what He will continue to do! We need Team Leaders to start Teams of discipleship.
It involves getting a group of men together, going through M3 and continuing through the FOCUS Online Study System. Any man of noble character can lead a group of men with these discipleship tools. Contact me for more information and I will walk you through it!
