SELF, Inc. Team Announcements
SELF, Inc. Board Names President and COO
The Board of Directors of SELF, Inc. recently named Executive Director Mike Hinson as the non-profit's new president and chief operating officer. At a board of directors' meeting on March 27, Chairman of the Board and SELF, Inc. CEO Dr. W. Wilson Goode said, "Since Mike joined SELF, we've seen tremendous gains in all programs. His business acumen, policy expertise, and deep concern for the community make him an asset to not only this organization, but to the city."
SELF Improvements Under Hinson's Leadership
With nearly two decades of experience heading a non-profit and leading movements for marginal communities, Mike's policy prowess and exceptional leadership abilities have already made a powerful impact on SELF, Inc. allowing the organization to regain its status as a policy and service innovator.

After joining SELF Inc. in June 2017, Mike went to work with his team streamlining and improving efficiencies across SELF operations. By consolidating supply and materials procurement, costs decreased. These savings were reinvested into programming. Mike implemented participant feedback and evaluative loops that allow program managers to receive timely input on the efficacy of SELF's initiatives. And, through a partnership with Shop Rite, Mike instituted an Employee of the Month program. Winners receive a $50 ShopRite gift card.

"I am more than confident in Mike's ability to lead this organization into its next triumphant phase," Goode said recently "and surpass all for which we dreamed and wished for this organization."

Mike earned a master of public administration degree and is an adjunct professor at Cheyney University in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. He completed his doctoral coursework and is fulfilling his dissertation.
