New Director of Music and Organist Appointed
Dear St. Peter's Parish Community:
I am glad to announce my appointment of Ms. Elizabeth Lenti as the new Director of Music and Organist at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Elizabeth joined the staff in November of 2014 to serve as Assistant Organist and Choirmaster together with Director of Music and Organist, Ben Outen, who will leave his post on July 9 for new ministry at Christ Church Charlotte. On July 10, Elizabeth will commence her new role, which will include that of Artistic Director of The Choir School at St. Peter's and the search for our new Assistant Organist and Choirmaster.
Upon the recent announcement of Ben's impending leave, I inquired with Elizabeth about the possibility of serving among us in a new capacity and was delighted to know of her willingness.
It is because of her impressive
readiness to lead, exceptional and well-rounded musicianship, gift for planning music and liturgy, commitment to excellence, and very clear devotion to the mission and ministry of the Parish and the Choir School that my appointment came quickly. The Personnel Committee was helpful with my discernment and decision, and I am grateful for their counsel.
Prior to coming to St. Peter's, Elizabeth served as Associate for Music and Worship at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (Cleveland, OH), Organ Faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Associate Choirmaster-Organist at All Saints Episcopal Church (Pasadena, CA). She is an organ performance graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music (Cleveland, OH) and the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY), and studied with organists, Todd Wilson, David Higgs, John Bodinger, and Richard Erickson. Master classes with Gerre Hancock, Vincent Dubois, Stephen Tharp, and Ben van Oosten, as well as performance awards and prizes, have been a substantial part of her broad formation and refinement as a brilliant organist, conductor, vocalist, and educator.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Elizabeth Lenti as the new Director of Music and Organist at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
We will be blessed by her spirit and ministry among us. She already has expressed appreciation for us and will offer a message to the parish community, soon.
God's peace, blessings, and in thanksgiving for the faith that binds us.
The Reverend Ollie V. Rencher, Rector
