A Message from the DD Team

Hi folks,

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s SIS-A information session. As you may know, we began using the SIS-A this month and we hope that our representative from the American Association for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities provided you with some helpful information about the tool.  Based on the feedback, one immediate step we can take is to have our SIS Assessors bring copies of the assessment questions to the interview so family members may read along with the Assessor.  If you have any questions about the SIS-A, please do not hesitate to contact our SIS Supervisor, Donna Standish, at [email protected] or by phone at 462-2628.

Additionally, we held our quarterly DD Community Forum last Wednesday; you can read notes from the meeting here. We are pleased that both forums were very well attended.  The DD leadership and staff enjoy speaking with our DD community in a group setting as well as in one-on-one discussions afterwards.

These meetings are part of our ongoing work to improve communication with individuals and families. We hope that you have found them beneficial; we certainly have! The feedback we receive from each meeting is valuable to us and appreciated. We will continuously update our Frequently Asked Questions material to capture the questions and share information.  We look forward to continuing to work closely with you as we improve our service system and work to offer the best possible services for all Rhode Islanders.

Finally, remember that [email protected] mailbox is checked daily. Feel free to use that email for comments and additional questions. And, please help us spread the word that anyone can sign up for our community newsletter at this link.

Sincerely,
Heather
