Re: Update on the Cherry Valley-Stillwater Boundary Review Committee

January 16, 2017

Dear Stillwater Elementary families,
As part of our strategic planning for student growth in the Riverview School District, we have convened a boundary review committee.  The purpose of the committee is to evaluate and make recommendations to the School Board about a potential boundary adjustment between Cherry Valley and Stillwater to accommodate accelerated growth in the Cherry Valley area.  Thus far, the committee has met three times.  The committee includes the following members:
  • Four parents (Two from Stillwater and two from Cherry Valley)
  • Two teachers (One from Stillwater and one from Cherry Valley)
  • Two principals (One from Stillwater and one from Cherry Valley)
  • District Director of Business and Operations
  • District Transportation Supervisor
  • District Superintendent
  • City of Duvall Public Works Department Engineer/Administrator
Currently, the committee is reviewing several options in the southwestern part of the boundary between Cherry Valley and Stillwater.  A committee priority is to select an option that reduces the rapid growth of Cherry Valley Elementary, while at the same time causes as little student impact as possible.

The next committee meeting will occur on February 6 th , when the committee will decide on a recommendation for a boundary adjustment for School Board consideration.  Prior to any final decision by the School Board, there will be a community forum held at the Riverview School District Educational Service Center on Monday, March 13th at 7:00 p.m. for public input.   Families that are impacted will be contacted prior to the meeting.  After considering feedback, the School Board will make a final decision regarding any boundary adjustment at a regularly scheduled board meeting.
