Brooklyn, NY – October 14, 2016.
This past week, communities along the United States southeastern seaboard were devastated by Hurricane Matthew, which left a trail of destruction in its wake. Widespread flooding still hampers efforts of first responders and impedes many from returning to their homes. All of us at NSNA offer our thoughts and prayers to all who were affected by this storm. We hope for a safe and quick return to normal life for all those affected.
In response to messages from students who lost their homes, schools, and in some cases family members, the Foundation of the NSNA established the Disaster Relief Fund in 2005, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. This fund was created to help nursing students affected by disasters to recover and continue their education. If you are a student in one of the affected areas, the Dean/Director of your school of nursing can apply for a grant from the Disaster Relief Fund. Information about the fund can be found by visiting
www.forevernursing.org
under the grants area.
The 34th MidYear Career Planning Conference takes place in Kansas City, Missouri from November 10-13, 2016. On Friday, November 11, the FNSNA will host the “FNSNA Sports Zone” fundraiser. All funds raised at this event will support the Disaster Relief Fund. Please know that the entire NSNA community stands with those affected by Hurricane Matthew. NSNA encourages members to support fellow nursing students who are in need of disaster relief by donating to the Disaster Relief Fund at

. Your support can make a difference in the life of a future nurse.
