A new GED graduate!
grad photo We have a lot to celebrate this month in the GED ministry: Raesha Fugate became our first 2016 graduate! We are so proud of her tremendous effort to overcome not only the challenges of the new 2015 test, but also her perseverance to continue in the midst of many other obstacles. Raesha hopes to attend college this fall semester. Thank you to all our tutors for the encouragement and expertise to get her to the finish line!

In addition to Raesha's grand accomplishment, we have 3 other students who this month have passed parts of the official test. Cing San Nuamthang not only has passed 3 of her tests, but also became an official US citizen after completing our Social Studies Block. The final test she needs to pass is Language Arts.

Deanna Pottinger, Michelle Holmes and Viridiana Mendoza also persevered this month through many GED state testing site obstacles. After being turned away for the 3rd time due to unforeseen circumstances, they huddled together with their teacher, prayed and remained positive. They held one another accountable to not give up and trust God. Friday, February 12th Michelle Holmes passed Science and Social Studies, San passed Science, and Deanna passed Reading and Language Arts.

Thanks to all for your prayers and support. To God be the Glory!

Malone's Workforce Solutions Visits Necole's Place
This month we hosted a workshop for Necole's Place clients who are interested in learning more about getting and keeping a job.  Work and finances play a huge part in the growth and development of individuals, and without these basic building blocks in place, it is hard to focus on deep spiritual growth.  Our aim is to strengthen the entire life of our clients - heart, soul, and body, which includes our work and financial life.

Dr. Kaufman opened the workshop by giving an overview of our Jobs for Life Program and our Faith and Finance Class. Then, Malone Workforce Solutions introduced skills on applying for jobs, interviewing, and keeping a job. This specific branch of Malone Staffing is a direct partner with Norton Healthcare, and they offer temp to hire positions. That means that this is a long term career possibility with potential training for specific medical skills for our clients.  We're very excited about the life changing opportunity this can provide for our clients and their children!
Thank you, Christian Academy!
On February 11th, we welcomed two middle school groups from Christian Academy of Louisville (CAL). Each year for the past several years, the students have completed their annual service project at the center. Nearly forty students and twelve adults came to pitch in with a number of helpful tasks at both A Woman's Choice & Necole's Place. They cleaned, organized, tended to the little ones in childcare, baked cupcakes, prepared baby bottles for this year's Baby Bottle Campaign, and prepared Valentine treat bags for clients with loving notes and scriptures attached.   The love doesn't end here though--the bottles prepared will be filled by elementary CAL students in the weeks ahead!

We extend a very heartfelt thanks to Christian Academy, Susan Reiney (who leads the service project), and all of the youth who came to serve and support the ministry. It's always encouraging and inspirational to see youth in service to Christ and His people! Thanks again CAL!
