Message from the Director

Only 3 Days Left!

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Conservancy will be hosting its annual benefit dinner, "A Night for Conservation": To Benefit the Perkiomen Watershed. The benefit will be held from 5:30 to 9:00 pm at RiverCrest Golf Club and Preserve in Collegeville, PA.

Join us for our incredible silent auction with special items from around the watershed. You can also enjoy wine ring toss and the Ken Battista Band... and this is just the start! We have a special program this year featuring our environmental award winners and a short vignette highlighting the epic
Perki-Bay Expedition.

"A Night for Conservation" is the Conservancy's largest annual fundraiser. If you care about the protection and restoration of your land and water resources then join us for this fun-filled evening celebrating conservation in the Perkiomen Valley. Believe me, every seat counts... get your tickets before the deadline this Saturday!

Thanks and see you OUTSIDE!!

We would like to thank all the volunteers who have participated so far!

Because of all your hard work, we were able to transform a traditional stormwater basin located in Harleysville into an environmentally friendly rain garden full of native plants!

Want to get in on the action?  There are still spots available to volunteer for the Perkiomen Plant-A-Thon, a watershed-wide, multi-month event with the goal of planting 5,000 native
trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants.

The Plant-A-Thon will be hosted at various sites over a series of weekends throughout September, October and November.  You will help plant riparian buffers, stormwater basins and rain gardens.  There are only a few spots left so reserve your spot today !

Fall School Field Trips Begin!

The Conservancy was happy to welcome the Oaks Elementary 4 th grade class this week to help us kick off our fall season of school field trips!  The students enjoyed the summer-like weather while learning about watersheds, s tream quality, riparian buffers and the East Branch Creek community.

Pre-trip activities completed in the classroom gave the students a head start on the day and allowed us to expand on topics already introduced in the classroom.  The students were delighted to find an amazing variety of macroinvertebrates in the creek especially the species known to be sensitive to pollution indicating good water quality in the East Branch Creek.

The Conservancy offers a wide range of programs designed to supplement school curriculum for preschool through high school.   Learn more here.

Calling All High School Students!

The Conservancy is currently recruiting members for the 2018 Perkiomen Watershed Conservation Corps. This youth program blends hands-on experiential learning with meaningful environmental service. If you or a youth you know loves to be outdoors or is thinking of heading into an environmental career, then sign up for this program!

The Conservation Corps youth program begins in January 2018 and runs through
the end of June. Early in the program, participants will learn the fundamentals of watershed management while developing their conservation field skills. Throughout the spring, participants will work hand-in-hand with our staff conservationists as they complete a wide variety of projects and programs. In June, participants will venture out on an epic five-day paddling expedition that begins along the Perkiomen Creek and finishes on the Delaware River.
