Dear Friends,

I am writing to let you know that I have, with regret, decided to wind down my ministry with you by the end of this year. Family health issues have become a major concern, and I am going to have to take a more active role in providing care. My regret is that I will not be able to walk with you until the end of your bishop election process. I also feel loss in that I have grown quite fond of this diocese and its people, and have truly enjoyed the ministry we have shared. I will, of course, continue to do my best to be fully attentive to your needs until the end of the year. I am even now making a list of “ to dos” that can be accomplished over the next few months. The Standing Committee and I will work hand in hand to provide a smooth transition. We will seek another provisional bishop with the assistance of the Pastoral Office of our Church and will move forward with an election plan which will be in place for approval at our next convention.

Please know that I am fully confident in your future. God is clearly at work in your midst, and will continue to provide for your needs. You are all consistently in my prayers, and I feel blessed to be part of your life.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

+Bruce

The Rt. Rev. Bruce E. Caldwell,
Bishop Provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington
