Victory for Marriage
at U.S. Supreme Court!
We are pleased to share today's blockbuster news out of the U.S. Supreme Court. The High Court has decided to let stand the marriage laws of states throughout our country. The Supreme Court chose not to use the California Proposition 8 case to mandate so-called same-sex "marriage" on the entire nation.
The Supreme Court sent the Proposition 8 case back to the lower federal courts in California, which may result in the imposition of homosexual "marriage" in that state. The Supreme Court also ruled in another case that federal benefits must be extended to the same-sex partners of federal employees in states where homosexual "marriage" is legally recognized.
But the primary news of the day is that the Supreme Court did not issue a ruling that invalidated the constitutional amendments of 30 states and the laws of 7 other states that define marriage as the union of a man and a woman.
We thank God that the Supreme Court chose not to radically redefine the institution of marriage in our country. We are relieved that the High Court resisted pleas to dismantle the bedrock social institution of our nation and of every thriving civilization.
Marriage between a man and a woman has been the cornerstone of the vitality and character of American culture since its founding. Countless generations have been blessed by the traditional family unit joined together by a man and woman in commitment to each other and their children.
Every child deserves the opportunity to benefit from the affection and guidance of a mother and father in their life. Future generations of children are the winners in today's Supreme Court decision.
We are most grateful to God that states like Missouri will be able to continue to defend and uphold the sacred institution of marriage as God designed it.
