Yesterday December 1, America commemorated the anniversary of the beginning of a revolutionary movement. Exactly 60 years ago in Montgomery, Alabama Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, which sparked the civil rights era. This simple, but rather courageous act is now American legend. Rosa Parks was the most popular historical figure named by American students in a survey and when Republican presidential contenders were asked to pick a woman they wanted pictured on the $10 bill, the largest number of votes went to Parks.
It is no wonder the honor and enthusiasm CoachCrafters felt after being selected to re-create the bus model in which Rosa Parks was arrested. Their main challenge was to locate an original bus from that era -a 1948 GMC. Luckily, they were able to find it at Rochester City Lines in Minnesota. It took many hours to figure out the perfect art of fully restoring a 1950s-era bus while still preserving its authenticity. All of the bus details were placed under scrutiny, to the point of having the original paint shipped in from Montgomery. Everybody was very pleased with the final product. There was much excitement among the public when it was unveiled on September 13, 2004. The general manager for the Montgomery Area Transit Services, Tim Omick said "one would almost think that you've been transported back in time and this is a brand new bus".

◙ There are more than 16,400 parking meters in Manhattan, New York
◙ A gallon of gasoline produces 8.8 kg of CO2.
◙ Traffic jams of New York, San Francisco and Paris are well known - beaten only by those in Seattle where a driver annually spends 59 hours stuck in traffic.
