Woodbridge Public Library offers assistance to patrons who visit the library with questions about jobs and careers. Library staff members will tell you that one of most satisfying daily experiences is to help patrons find resources to improve their career prospects. Among the highly regarded resources available to library patrons is Job & Career Accelerator--a digital toolkit that can be personalized and that is available 24/7.

The "Tools to Get Hired" section holds step-by-step cover letter and resume builders, which can be saved to your profile and used as often as they are needed. A concise interview skills video and samples of interview follow-up letters are a bonus.  The last, but “most-likely-to-make-a-difference” step is networking---composing communications to let people know that you are looking for a job or a career. The samples available in the "Networking and Informational Sample Letters" section has some of the best career guidance recommendations available.

Are you a veteran currently in the market for a new job, or looking to change careers? Job and Career Accelerator has resources just for you! In addition to step-by-step assistance with finding a job, creating a resume, and getting hired, the Military-to-Civilian guide in the “Explore Occupations” section gives great advice to veterans in their job search. Patrons can even search by military branch and rank or position to find civilian jobs that utilize similar skills or training. Job and Career Accelerator also provides free access to full-text eBooks like Best Careers for Veterans, The Military Advantage, and Career Changer’s Manual to guide veterans entering or returning to the civilian workforce.
