Dear Archbishop Carroll Family,
I hope my letter finds you enjoying the final days of summer, and looking forward to your return to Archbishop Carroll for what I know is going to be a very special school year.
You’ll see many new faces on campus when you return to school on Thursday, Sept. 8:
- Dr. Anchen Schulz is our new Principal. You will find her to be spirit-filled with a solid foundation in Catholic education. She is an innovative educator who is extremely enthusiastic about sharing her gifts with our student body, who will prepare them for the fast-paced, ever-changing unknowns of the world.
- A familiar administrator, Mr. James Corkery, is our new Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs, replacing Dr. Rigby. Mr. Corkery’s long connection to Archbishop Carroll will surely be an asset to our administration.
- Mr. Brady Kramer is our new, first-ever full time Athletic Director. Raised locally, former NHL player, long term athletic director and teacher in San Diego, California – Mr. Kramer is sure to instill new enthusiasm in Archbishop Carroll athletics.
- Mr. Michael Hickey is our new Assistant Principal for Student Services. Mr. Hickey brings over twenty years of teaching and administrative experience, primarily at Malvern Preparatory School, to this position. Mr. Hickey holds a Master’s of Science from West Chester University and is currently earning a doctorate in education.
- And we welcome the new faces of the Class of 2020 into our dynamic and warm community.
Campus Improvements
The continuous improvements to our campus did not take a summer holiday and in fact have been more active than any time in our nearly 50 year history. Here are but a few of the major changes:
- New fire and safety system installed throughout the entire school.
- Permanent 1,500 seat grandstand with press box currently being constructed on the general purpose field in time for our home Football game on September 16th (currently in planning stages for eight lane NCAA track to be installed around the field for September 2017 ribbon cutting).
- All turf Baseball field under construction.
- Re-sodded Soccer field under construction.
- New Wresting practice room.
- New Rowing (ergometer) room.
It is important to note that all improvements to our facility and campus are financed by generous Alumni donors and friends of Carroll. Your tuition and fees go solely to the excellent Academic programs we continue to build and operations at Carroll.
As the “secret sauce” focus on their faith, academics, athletics, the arts and the many other co-curricular activities offered by Carroll, know that our faculty and staff remain deeply committed to their spiritual, academic and social development.
Welcome back! Here’s to the best year ever at Archbishop Carroll!
Warm Regards,
Francis E. Fox ’77 President

Important Aramark Information
For students who use our cafeteria services, we offer a program called QuikLunch. QuikLunch is a computerized debit system that will allow you to pay in advance for meal purchases. Just like EZ Pass on the PA and NJ Turnpike, this system reduces time-consuming cash transactions, and makes our lunch lines move much faster.
You can send CASH, A CERTIFIED CHECK, or a MONEY ORDER to your school’s cafeteria via mail or your student can bring it directly to the school cafeteria. Deposits must be made by 9:30 a.m. and will be available to your child immediately.
For additional convenience we offer an online lunch account management option through www.payforit.net. For step-by-step instructions outlining how to sign up for an account through PayForIt, please click HERE.

Call to Prayer for Victims of Italian Earthquake/Statement from Archbishop Kurtz, President of the USCCB
As you have likely seen in news reports, a devastating earthquake recently struck the towns of Accumoli and Amatrice in Italy, which are about 80 miles from Rome. Following the Holy Father’s call for prayer from Catholics around the world, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked the faithful in the United States to join in prayerful solidarity for the victims of this natural disaster. The full text of the statement issued by Archbishop Kurtz on August 24th is below. Please consider sharing this information broadly with others. Thank you.
A Statement from Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville President, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
On August 25, 2016, Pope Francis prayed the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary with pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square for victims of the Italian earthquakes. Knowing all too well the personal toll of natural disasters in our own country, let us join with the Holy Father in prayer for everyone suffering from Louisiana to central Italy. We entrust the lives lost to our loving Mary, Mother of God, praying for the comfort of those mourning and the strength for those rebuilding. Amid our hectic lives, let us pause to offer a rosary.

If you have any questions regarding this temporary change, please e-mail Mrs. Romanelli at [email protected].
Changes made by Naviance that should be available in early September:

Mandatory Physical Examination
Archbishop Carroll High School requires a physical examination, including all immunizations, for all new students to Carroll (Class of 2020 and Transfer Students) and all eleventh graders (Class of 2018). Physical Examination forms are due before the first day of school this September 2016; however, I will accept physicals NOW for next year. Examinations done by a family physician within one year prior to the opening of the school term are acceptable by state regulations. Please note, the sports physical [PIAA] form IS NOT interchangeable with the Health Office physical form.
Please keep me informed of any medical changes, treatments or immunizations that your child has received, so that his/her health record is current. Up-to-date information is essential in an emergency situation.
It is advisable for any parent whose child has specific health concerns to schedule an appointment or have a phone conversation with me before the start of school. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail:
Click HERE to access the physical form. You can also download it from our website. Click on the Nurse tab of the menu and download the physical form.

From International Education Opportunities
|
|
Global Connections, the homestay division of International Education Opportunities, is seeking Carroll families to become hosts for our international students during the 2016-2017 school year! Sharing your home with an international student is an excellent way for you and your family to learn about a new culture while sharing your family traditions with someone new. Host families are paid a generous monthly stipend to help offset the cost of having another person in the household. Hosts are asked to treat students like members of their own families and to involve them in the daily routine of the home. Hosts provide a private bedroom, meals, and school transportation. Most importantly, they are expected to provide a stable, caring environment.
Short term hosting opportunities are also available.
Please join us at the Parents’ Association Meeting on May 9th at 7:00pm where members of the Global Connections staff will be available to answer questions and give additional information.
To learn more or to apply directly, please visit
http://www.gcstays.com/hostastudent/
