Let's Talk About Menstruation
Lack of access to menstruation supplies holds back millions of girls from getting an equal education.

While there are many barriers to girls' education, a hidden struggle for girls is managing their periods. In fact, in rural India, 1 in 4 girls quit school when they begin menstruating. Similarly, girls in rural African communities miss up to 50 days of school per year, do poorly on exams, eventually drop out of school, and are forced into early marriages.

The limited hygiene options these girls have are often expensive, impractical, potentially dangerous or culturally inappropriate.

Over 6 years ago, one of our partners in Kenya opened a dialogue with us about this issue. We listened, brainstormed and, in pursuit of the ultimate solution, partnered with professionals on four continents who share our same core values

We spent 6 years stubbornly believing that, together with our partners, we could create a solution that was truly holistic: culturally appropriate, environmentally sound and life-changing for girls.

And now, without grants or corporate assistance, we hope to make this a truly grass-roots journey, and ask that you join the conversation.

Please consider donating today and share our conversation with your friends and family.

FAQ: Why not reusable cloth pads?

The lack of soap or privacy to wash and dry cloth, as well as inclement weather and humid conditions, causes cloth pads are worn damp and become a breeding ground for pathogens that endanger girls' health.
