It's Zinfandel harvest season again and wine growers are making sure that the 2014 crop will create exceptional wine for you to enjoy in the years to come. The time of harvest is determined primarily by the ripeness of the grape as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels. Of course, the weather also plays a big role in the timing of the harvest and each winemaker uses their years of experience to determine the exact moment to pick the grapes.

Visiting the wine country this time of year can be very exciting. There is a lot of activity around the vineyards and plenty of opportunity to learn more about how your favorite Zinfandel is transformed from grapes on the vine into wine on your table.
