Trail Race
The annual Insane Terrain 5k is growing every year! Thank you to everyone who participated in the EVTA fundraiser this month. This year's race was entirely off road and on the new Elkin Creek Mountain Bike course...opening to the public soon.

Kimberley Brookshire,
(trail name, Legs) decided that hiking the Mountains to Sea Trail from west to east just wasn't enough, so she decided to turn around and do it one more time...this time going west! More MST thru hikers are doing this, and this gives us more chances to get to know them when they come through town!

Bob and Suzanne Puckett hosted Kimberley overnight. Thanks, Bob and Suzanne...you two are true Trail Angels!

TRAIL SECTION: Brookfall Dairy Road to Carter Mill Road

WHERE:   Meet at the former Walmart building, corner of Hwy 21 business and Brookfall    Dairy Road, north Elkin

WHEN:  8:30 a.m.

BRING: Gloves, battery operated drill/screw drivers, hammers, shovels, etc.

WHAT: We will break into several small groups; we have three small bridges to deck; we will also be moving and reinstalling 1/3 mile of electric cattle fence

If you come late...the trailhead to either of these workdays is just west down Brookfall Dairy Road, 1/2 mile on the left. Everyone is welcome to join in. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own water and snacks.

Bare toes in the Elkin Valley area will soon be covered by 100% American made socks from
Mt. Airy's Nestor Hosiery and Farm to Feet. This Mountains to Sea Trail  inspired collection of socks will be available at outdoor retailers and online in the Spring of 2017. We'll keep you posted, but in the meantime, read more about this great local company and why this announcement is so awesome for Elkin Valley trails!
