Every year, wherever I am, I join the
beginning of the year
Some years I fast dinner. Some years, dessert.
But one year, in particular, I remember fasting...technology.
No tv. No radio. No internet.
Lots of silence.
The first day was fine. No problem. I can do this!
Read my Bible. Read a book. Have a
But by about day 3, I remember thinking, "Wow, what exactly am I going to do with myself?"
And I laughed. Right then and there. I laughed.
I laughed at the realization of how much of my time was filled with stuff. With things. With moving pictures and sounds and...
And I laughed at my reaction. At my
what exactly am I going to do without my usual distractions reaction!
And that's part of what fasting does.
Sometimes it shows us what fills our days.
Sometimes it shows us what fills our stomachs.
But it always shows us what's in our hearts.
And it always brings us to a decision.
The decision to spend time with God.
More time. Specific time. Dedicated time.
Time to talk. And time to listen.
Time to ask. And time to receive.
But most of all, time to...be.
Time to be, just be, with the One who formed us.
The One who loves us.
The One who knows us by name!
The One who holds all things in His hands.
The One who has the answer and solution to every problem, every distraction, every situation.
The One who loves to spend time with us. Longs to spend time with us!
But now, this is what the LORD says -- He who created you...He who formed you: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine. from Isaiah 43:1

Allow God to minister to your heart. And your mind. And your stomach.
Be. Just be.
And watch what God does in you and through you!
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed. Mark 1:35
In those days, Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and He spent the night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said... from Acts 13:2
Haven't started your Daniel Fast yet? No problem! You can start today!
Not sure what to fast? Ask God. Ask Holy Spirit.
And then...go for it!
