Dear Friends,
Jewish overnight camp has been proven to be one of the best ways to create a lifelong connection to one's Jewish identity. I am excited to share an opportunity to help you send your 4th-10th grader to Jewish overnight camp this summer. JCC Camp CHI, the premiere overnight camp in the Midwest, has set aside special scholarship dollars for families from smaller Midwest communities, including our entire Federation area. Scholarships are available for campers attending camp for 2, 3 or 4 weeks, and will result in greatly reduced prices for families.
JCC Camp CHI is located near the Wisconsin Dells. CHI's facilities are among the finest in the country, with two heated pools, an air-conditioned gym, athletic fields, arts studio, equestrian center, low and high ropes course, radio and video studio, lake front activities and extensive watersports. After a summer at CHI, campers return home with cherished memories and increased self-confidence to accomplish everything from reaching the top of the climbing wall to forming lifelong friendships. They also develop a stronger appreciation for community and enhanced Jewish connection. I know all this is a fact as I spent 5 of the best summers of my childhood as a Camp CHI camper, and started my Jewish communal career there by spending an additional 4 summers as a Camp CHI counselor and seasonal supervisor when I was in my early 20s.
These special scholarships are available in addition to the One Happy Camper $1000 discounts available to first time Jewish overnight campers attending camp for 3 weeks or longer ( www.onehappycamper.org) and our own scholarships. We want to make sure that Jewish camp is available to everyone and that, whenever possible, cost is not a barrier.
