January 2018 Newsletter
This month, we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy and his vision of a Beloved Community in which all people come together to end poverty, hunger and homelessness.

Dr. King envisioned a society in which equal opportunity is available to all. The support of community members like you makes new opportunities possible for the homeless families that Nicholas House serves, opportunities for both parents and children to grow, learn and safely move toward a life of self-sufficiency.

Would you like to honor Dr. King's legacy by serving in 2018?

You are invited to join us for the next Open Door Tour at our shelter on Saturday, February 17th from 10:30 am - 11:30 am to learn more about our programs and what you can do OR to join us for our Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, February 17th from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm.
Holiday Cheer for Homeless Families
The holidays can be a sad time for homeless families, but thanks to our community of support, 128 family wish lists were sponsored with gifts through our Adopt-a-Family program! Thanks to these generous sponsors, the children in our programs were full of joy as they opened their holiday gifts.

Nick's Activity Hour Volunteers Needed

Do you have a passion for working with children?

We need volunteers to help lead fun activities with the children in our shelter while their parents are in adult education classes from 7:30 - 8:30 pm on Tuesdays.

Does this sound like the right fit for you?

Email Norma for more information.

All volunteers working with the youth must first complete and clear a background check.
Adopt-a-Room

Want to make a big impact for the homeless families in our emergency shelter? Consider sponsoring a room through our Adopt-a-Room program!

For $1,500, supporters can sponsor a family room in our shelter for a full year. They will have a plaque posted outside of their sponsored room and their sponsorship will ensure that families living in that room receive the full benefit of wrap-around Nicholas House programs.

Click here for more details about the Adopt-a-Room program and email Norma if you would like to sponsor a room!
