Girls Who Code
The national Girls Who Code  movement was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in the field of computer science. The City of Salisbury hosted a Girls Who Code club recently, with City Manager Lane Bailey saying, "The disparity between females in the technology field versus males is the one reason we brought Girls Who Code to Salisbury.”
The Salisbury Girls Who Code  Spring 2018 session, which began in February, ends on May 7th. The program is free, but offers limited seats. The City of Salisbury is currently applying to host the next Girls Who Code club. For more information, contact Claire Karriker at (704) 638-5304 or .
The tech industry innovates at alarming speeds (see: driver-less cars and AI), yet remains archaic in one area: Our devices are still predominantly built by men. The new MAKERS series, TechMAKERS , produced with Melinda Gates, aims to empower the next generation of innovators to pursue STEM-related careers by highlighting five extraordinary women in aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics and more.

The Salisbury Business Center 's second Coffee Morning is happening May 10th from 7:30 am - 9:00 pm. This month, our morning networking event features guest-of-honor Rod Crider from Rowan Works - the Rowan Economic Development Commission. The SBC will be offering coffee and light morning fare. Last weeks to see 'Into the Open' Exhibit
These are the last weeks to stop in to the Salisbury Business Center Gallery to see the Plein Air Carolina exhibit! 'Into the Open' features works of ten Plein Air artists whose specialty is painting in the open air.

‘Into the Open’ is part of our Art Partnerships Gallery Exhibits program , wherein the SBC provides gallery space to promote local artists and to increase art appreciation within our community. The 'Into the Open' exhibit is free and open to the public weekdays, Monday – Friday, from 8:00am-5:00pm.  Each exhibited piece is offered for sale and many of the artists will accept a commissioned assignment.
