JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Communications Coordinator

Report to: Vice President

Summary of Position:
The primary responsibility of the Communications Coordinator is to regularly promote the Chamber, its members, and Dahlonega and Lumpkin County tourism assets, special events, and festivals to visitors and residents. This employee will also assist staff in generating non dues revenue in designated program.

Description of Duties:

Marketing & Public Relations:

- Analyze, manage, and increase social media presence, ensuring an active and innovative presence on established and new social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google+.

- Assist in preparing the Strategic communication plans for the Chamber and for Tourism

- Prepare Chamber & Visitors Bureau press releases and blog postings

- Assist in the development of new website content

- Assist with editing of various collateral publications, brochures, and website content

- Assist with updating the blog via content management systems

- Responsible for planning, implementation, and measurement of email marketing communications targeting subscriber databases

- Collaborate with staff in design and creation of collateral and creative materials

- Develop a network of media contacts and methods to leverage their effectiveness when promoting the Chamber, Chamber events, and tourism events.

- Oversee and coordinate monthly section/advertising campaign in The Dahlonega Nugget, ensuring timely delivery (if applicable)
Event Support:

- Assist as needed with Chamber events, including but not limited to Eggs & Issues Breakfast, Annual Meeting, PAGE Star Banquet, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Celebration, Firecracker 5k Run, Business Expo, Wedding Expo, Student Block Party, Dahlonega Wine Trail, Six Gap Century Bike Ride & Criterium, Annual Christmas Party, Board Planning Session, and Town Hall Meetings/Candidate Forums
Administrative:

- Develop, implement, and monitor annual strategic social media and email marketing plans and budget

- Actively monitor the Chamber’s online reputation

- Serve as community outreach liaison by disseminating information through local social media groups and distributing marketing materials locally

- Review and approve member-submitted events and news releases through ChamberMaster database

- Manage press image galleries

- Maintain master community event calendar

- Prepare monthly and quarterly communications reports for the Board, City Council, and County Commissioners
Other Duties:

- Maintain proficiency in multimedia and all social media including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+ and LinkedIn

- Take photographs at Chamber events for promotional purposes

- Attend and actively participate in appropriate meetings and gatherings

- Ensure member satisfaction by developing strong, productive relationships with members and staff at all levels

- Work with staff to ensure Program of Work is accomplished in a timely manner, adhering to established deadlines

- Anticipate trends and situations and take appropriate action on a timely basis

- Be willing and able to help all potential and current members as they relate to our organization

- Perform other duties as assigned by the president
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Prefer a minimum two years of college or equivalent experience in a professional environment

- Command of the basic principles of journalism, English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and business correspondence

- Proficiency with digital photography and videography, ability to use photo and video editing software

- Demonstrated ability to utilize and operate in all areas of social media, keeping current on emerging trends

- Excellent creative writing skills and ability to produce press releases

- Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; physical activity required

- Strong organizational, time management and priority placement skills

- Must be a self-starter, detail orientated, reliable and maintain a professional demeanor

- Ability to provide excellent customer service and be a team player

- Ability to produce a large quantity of work at high quality

- Superior verbal and written communications skills

- Ability to function both independently and in a team environment

- Working knowledge of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County

- Excellent telephone demeanor

- Strong people and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work flexible hours to include some evening, weekend, and holiday work

- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously

- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, work environment

- Proficiency with image editing software (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator experience
preferred)

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Publisher, as well as database technology

- Proficiency with ConstantContact and Joomla

- Valid driver’s license and ownership of vehicle with insurance

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

Time Requirements:
This position is a salaried, full-time position.

Mileage Reimbursement:
Mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate for job-related out-of-county travel.
