Solving the challenge of online training identity verification
CPHR Alberta is partnered with Integrity Advocate to provide a valuable new resource for members.

Many organizations have moved training from instructor-led to on-line in order to capitalize on the various benefits of web-based delivery, and training topics have also progressed from information/awareness training to regulatory required and risk management topics (e.g. harassment, health and safety training).

On-line Delivery
This change in delivery has resulted in many organizations losing the ability to prove both the identity of personnel taking the training and the ability to ensure the required participation. As studies demonstrate that the level of unethical behavior increases when learning is done on-line is it logical that the response of regulators has been to require confirmation of identity and participation. Investigation findings into situations of compromised on-line training processes have identified not only individual level impropriety, but also wide-spread commercial services that provide training completion services for compensation.

Managing Risk
Some organizations have already responded by not accepting online training for high –risk activities, while others have mandated the utilization of technology that verifies both the identity and the participation of personnel completing on-line training that is legally and/or operationally critical.

This notice is to ensure that members are aware of the potential of compromised on-line training as well as the existence of technology that mitigates the issue. More information can be found by clicking on the following link http://alertcast.tech/CPHR/TrainingIntegrity
