DECEMBER NEWS FROM YOUR LOCAL UNITED WAY
Our Community. Your United Way.

Can you believe we only have two more days left in the 2015 calendar year?  For United Way NSV, that means it's almost time to close our fundraising books.  Because of your support, we are closer to  reaching our goal of 1.1 million dollars going back to to our community. If you haven't already made your year-end gift, the time to give is now. Check with your tax professional to see how much you can deduct on your taxes, then, make your gift to United Way NSV! Your gift can get us to goal!

Because of your dedication this year, we've had unprecedented community involvement; totaling 42,700 donated volunteer hours. We've saved our residents 2 million dollars in prescription costs. We've provided 20,000 hot meals, and so much more. With your help, we've made a huge impact.

United Way NSV will be out in the community on Martin Luther King Day on January 18th, 2016! Volunteers will be assembling and delivering resource bags on foot to Winchester City residents. These bags will be filled with supplies, tools and information, valuable to area residents who might need a hand. Join us! Sign up online here! Students and adults are all welcome to join our endeavor! Thank you Shenandoah University, John Handley High School and NAACP for volunteering with us again this year!
Get Involved - Impact Grants!
Did you know that all of the undesignated money we raise is distributed through Impact Grants based on the recommendations of area volunteers? Fund Distribution volunteers represent the contributing public and help to insure that donated funds are well spent. Volunteers work together to review five to nine grant applicants and recommend monetary levels of support for specified programs. Now is the time to sign up as a  volunteer to sit on our Fund Distribution Committee! Sign up here to direct where a year's worth of fundraising will go!

Do you work for an area non-profit? Check to see if your agency qualifies and  apply for an Impact Grant online! Make sure to get a letter of intent to Paula by January 12th! Check out the list of deadlines to make sure you get your paperwork to us in time for the fund distribution committee to review it!
