Principal Miller's Message

Greetings AAGPE Families,

Wow! What an exciting time of the year!  I am so pleased to announce that one-third of our student body will be inducted into the National Honor Society February 2 at 5:30. Please come watch as our students pledge Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character and join the prestigious honor of being a part of this amazing society.

Testing season is rapidly approaching, and the teachers and staff of AAGPE are hard at work preparing your child ( ren) for success! MAP testing will begin the week January 31st for all 9th and 10th graders. This computerized test is given at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year testing student skills in reading, language use, and math.  The data from this test helps administration know where students are in their education, will help drive instruction as well as a being great indicator for performance on STAAR EOCs. TELPAS will be going on during the months of February and March. English I and II STAAR EOCs will be at the end of March. Algebra I, Biology, and US History STAAR EOCs will be conducted the first week of May.  Some student schedules have changed in order to work with them in small group intervention settings to help prepare them for upcoming testing. Mandatory tutoring is every Monday and Thursday from 4:15 - 5:00 pm.

Please be watching for information coming about yearbook sales, prom, and graduation.  Buckle up, AAGPE, this roller coaster is about to get started!

DECA Medal

Advantage Academy DECA's officers had a great time at the District 11 Career Development Conference on Saturday, January 21,
competing , networking and overall, just having fun. Jenny Le, Valeria Enriquez, Bryson Briseno and Uriel Sanchez were just a few of the competitors in the pool of over 700 students in the district who attended the conference. Some other schools that attended the conference  were Dubiski Career High School, South Grand Prairie High School and Lakeview Centennial High School. From food trucks to game  trucks and a photo booth, as well as concessions, our team had a very good time at the conference.

For their first-ever D istric t Career Development Conference, with little time to prepare, Advantage Academy DECA successful won and brought home a district medal, thanks to our Vice President of Finance, Bryson Briseno, and all four officers who attended will be advancing to the State Career Development Conference in San Antonio towards the end of February.

Congratulations to Ms. Caruthers and Advantage Academy DECA!
