AALL Biennial Salary Survey
Responses Due August 24

Every two years since 1997, the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), in service to the profession of law librarianship and legal research, has published its AALL Biennial Salary Survey & Organizational Characteristics.

Last month, the invitation for the 2017 Survey was distributed to members classified as head librarians, department heads, or supervisors. Today, AALL is reaching out to all members in an effort to inform everyone about the survey, to encourage and increase participation, and to ensure that the invitation reaches all appropriate parties.

This survey should be completed by those with access to compensation information at each AALL member location . If you are not this person, please forward this invitation to the appropriate individual in your organization. If you've already received a survey invitation, please complete the survey by August 24. Please note that the person who fills out the survey does not need to be a member of AALL.

Your organization's prompt and thorough response ensures that AALL continues to deliver the most current, relevant, and accurate compensation information for legal information professionals. We value and appreciate each organization's participation in this confidential survey that enables AALL to produce this invaluable professional resource.

There are two sections to the survey. If you cannot supply all of the information, please complete as much of the survey as possible. All individual data will be kept strictly confidential.

Organization Profile: T o provide information about each member's department--for example, the library, or the competitive intelligence, research, or knowledge management department.

[*An Excel version of the Staff Data Chart can be found online through the survey link below. You may use this as a worksheet and save it for your records. For your convenience, you may also upload the Excel document to the online survey in place of entering the information directly into the online form.]

Please use the link below to complete the survey online, following the instructions carefully. If you need more than one session to complete the survey, you can save your answers and return as often as you need until August 24 using the link and a password of your own choosing. If you will be reporting salaries for individuals at more than one location, please contact ARI ([email protected]) to receive a new link to report additional data.

If you prefer to complete the survey in writing, a printable PDF version of the survey is
available. Download the PDF by logging into the survey and selecting your library type. Send your completed survey by August 24 to ARI by fax (240.268.1267) or by mail (Association Research, Inc., 910 Clopper Road, Suite 210N, Gaithersburg, MD 20878).

Association Research, Inc. (ARI), an independent third-party professional research firm, has been engaged by AALL once again to conduct all aspects of the work--data collection, tabulation, analysis, and reporting. At no time will individual respondent data be provided to AALL or to any other individual or organization. ARI has a 33-year history of research work exclusively for and with nonprofit organizations. If you have any questions regarding the survey materials, please contact ARI by email ([email protected]) , by fax (240.268.1267), or by telephone (240.268.1262).
