S.O.A.R Session #3 is Just  Around The Corner!

August S.O.A.R. Students & Parents:

Are you ready to SOAR with us during the August Student Orientation And Registration program? We are certainly ready for you and can't wait to officially welcome you to The Hill!
 
Please remember that S.O.A.R. is a 2-day event. You may however finalize all your business matters in one day. Nonetheless, it is imperative that students are accompanied by a parent/guardian during the first day of your orientation.
 
Our previous S.O.A.R. letter to you included detailed information regarding your residential hall check-in and S.O.A.R. registration timelines. Those timelines however, will not apply to your August session. Students attending the August S.O.A.R. session will check-into their permanently assigned halls on the dates and times provided by Residential Life and Housing.

Please also note that S.O.A.R. registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning in the T.M. Elmore Building. There, students and parents will pick up registration bags. The Opening Program will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the T.M. Elmore gymnasium. It is important that you arrive on time and follow the program schedule as provided.
 
Additionally, a wonderful evening event has been planned for both students and parents on Monday. We plan to welcome you to 'Bulldog Country' in a very special way!

Come Ready to S.O.A.R. on The Hill!

Out-of-State-Tuition Waiver Students
"Getting the Out of State Tuition Waiver Credit..."

Starting Fall 2016, Alabama A&M University will implement an Out-of-State Tuition Waiver program. The program is to provide financial assistance to non-resident freshman students based on the following requirements and conditions:
 
  1. Student must be fully and unconditionally admitted as a full-time freshman for the 2016 Fall Semester
     
  2. Student must maintain a full-time student status each semester
     
  3. Student must pay all required 2016 Fall Semester Enrollment and Orientation fees as an entering freshman
     
  4. Student must have a Composite Predictive Index of 20 or higher upon acceptance.  The Composite Predictive Index is calculated during the admission process.
     
  5. Student must have successfully completed the FAFSA, if applicable
     
  6. If selected for verification during FAFSA process, student must  have satisfied all verification requirements before receiving the waiver
     
  7. The receipt of this award in combination with any other institutional or federal aid (excluding student or parent loans) cannot result in a refund being awarded to the student
     
  8. A cumulative GPA of 2.8 must be maintained each semester in order to continue receiving the Out-of State Tuition Waiver
     
  9. The Out-of-State Tuition Waiver can be received for a maximum of *8 consecutive semesters
    *Extenuating circumstances will be considered if interrupted.
     
  10. The accounts of students qualifying for this waiver will be credited appropriately .

Before You Come To S.O.A.R. ...
Come to "The Hill" on August 15th ready to S.O.A.R. with these tips in mind:
  • Report to T.M. Elmore Building Monday at 7:30 a.m. and pick up the S.O.A.R. Registration Bag
     
  • Attend the Opening Program in the T.M. Elmore Gym at 8:30 a.m. [students and parents]
     
  • If you have an AP or Baccalaureate transcript and have not submitted it to Admissions, you must submit the transcript to assure accurate class scheduling.
     
  • If selected for 'FAFSA Verification' by the Department of Education, submit the requested documents before arriving to campus

Hotel Information for S.O.A.R.

S.O.A.R. is a two day event for both the student and their families. Student will reside in on campus housing. However, we do not provide on-campus lodging for family members. 

The link below has a list of hotels in the surrounding Huntsville area. Each will offer a discounted rate during our S.O.A.R. dates. Be sure to mention "Alabama A&M University S.O.A.R." when making your reservation! Please note that these rates are subject to change at the discretion of the hotel.
